Therapist Engagement is Key to a Seamless Massage Experience

Now when you hear individuals say “Oh I got a massage on time and it hurt!” or "This one time, I went to this one place, this one therapist, did this one thing and I was sore afterwards!" that's probably due to lack of communication.

Of course we always recommend you visit state licensed, professionally trained, and insured Massage Therapists --like our Therapist here-- when in search of therapeutic relief.

But its important to your entire session experience to engage with your Therapist and respond truthfully to the questions regarding your current health, preference of pressure, and your follow-up response.

Communicate Your Current Health Conditions

So lets get to it.

Number 1, Your Current Health and Conditions
Now before your session, your Therapist will do a brief health intake to see if you are healthy enough or cleared for massage: typically in regards to recent injuries, surgeries, or medications. It is important here to be honest and fully disclose with your Therapist because of any contraindications that can interfere with previous treatments.

Communicate Your Pressure Preference

Number 2, Your Pressure Preference

Now before you start your session the Therapist will ask you do you prefer light or firm pressure and the Therapist will ask throughout the session: “How's the pressure?”

This is your que again confirm the preference you stated in the beginning or you can ask for more or less and the Therapist will adjust to your request.

Communicate In Your Follow-Up Response

Lastly Number 3, is also crucial to your massage experience and that is the session follow-up response.

Here the Therapist will ask how you are feeling? and if she effectively addressed the area of focus you visited for. Again this is your que to honestly assess the session experience.

Now any well trained Massage Therapist will always want to engage and communicate with you before, during, or after your session. But it also important for you as a Guest to tell the Therapist about any previous conditions, discomfort, or any insights you have on how to meet your session expectations.

Communicate, Communicate, and Communicate

So let's recap!

Number 1, communicate your current health and conditions and important that you are healthy and cleared by your doctor for massage.

Number 2, communicate your pressure preference massage should not hurt or be painful but you may experience a bit of discomfort depending on the tights of the muscle tissue and required bodywork used to loosen the muscle.

And Number 3, communicate in your follow up response this is simply did the session effectively meet your session goals and provide the relief for your initial visit.
