Welcome to Elated Harmonies Massage
Hello Hello Again
Welcome into Elated Harmonies Massage where we provide therapeutic massage sessions and products that encourage Individuals to Invest in Moments of Peace.
My name is Shanice-Shaila and in this video I want to share with you 3 key differences between chair and table massage and why visiting the studio during the workday can not only instantly reduce the anxiety levels heightened by well the workplace but also work out some of those knots that may have formed in your neck muscles by sitting all day at your desk staring at a computer screen.
Guess What? We're Releasing Stretch Videos
Again, if you've been watching this series of videos I'll link two here and here you know that we are doing this series to share as much insights as we can regarding brief therapeutic massage sessions in the workplace.
But good news!
We are soon adding a series of stretch videos to show you what stretches you should be incorporating:
- - at your desk,
- - between your massage sessions, and
- - maybe when your office mate says that slick comment to you that really got you side-eyeing and shifting back in your chair
but instead we'll show you how to drop into a power shoulder stretch to get rid of that less-than-productive energy at its onset
So go head and comment down below by saying Hello, Hello or get in touch with us directly at:

So lets get into it!
Access to Specific Muscle Groups
Number 1, the key difference between chair massage and table massage is the access the specific muscle groups.
In a chair massage the Therapist can primarily focus on: Neck, Shoulder, and Lower Back, as well as Arms, Hands,
[shoulders, knees, and toes (no no no, I'm playing, that's not true – for the chair)]
But she can on table because the table also allows her to focus pressure on your Legs, Hips, and Glutes just to name a few.
Massage Therapist Techniques Used
This leads us to Number 2, the techniques used
So in the chair the Therapist will typically use Shiatsu and Swedish movements to relieve tension in specific areas to provide that trigger point release.
Quick note, those knots I referred to in the beginning of the video that I said may have formed in your neck by sitting all day staring at your computer screen are what we consider trigger points where the muscles have tensed up and refused to let go.
Now on the table the Therapist can use a range of techniques with kneading and focused pressure but also stretching to work the entire muscle or specific isolated spots.
Positioning of the Body
And lastly, Number 3, The Positioning of the Body
Now the cradle position in the Chair as well as the reposed position on the table are both incredibly de-stressing, as we hear from many Guests all the time that “Oh I almost fell asleep” or even “Was I just snoring?”
But again the key difference here is that almost instant state of relaxation encouraging your body to be put in that parasympathetic state to restore and renew.
Muscle Groups, Techniques, and Positioning
So let's recap!
The 3 key differences between Chair Massage and Table Massage are:
- - Number 1, Access to Specific Muscle Groups
- - Number 2, Therapist Techniques Used and
- - Number 3, Positioning of the Body for that instant state of relaxation
So there it is. You have the choice to choose from table or chair massage when visiting the studio here at Elated Harmonies Massage Therapeutic Massage Studio located downtown in Washington, D.C.
